"Living 24 hours with mindfulness is more worthwhile than living 100 years without it."
- The Buddha

ABOUT
Susmita grew up in Kolkata, India in a minority Bengali Barua Buddhist family. After finishing her graduate studies in Geography and Urban-Regional Planning from University of Calcutta (1985) and University of Arizona (1987), she came to settle in Lexington, KY in 1989 with her spouse and 3 month old baby. Immigration to the US, adapting to new culture, weather, food and school, plus the stress of new marriage, in-laws, finding reliable babysitters and adapting to the new city planning job in an all male environment led her to an inner crisis of culture and identity. Listening to her heart, she was able to quit her first full time job in January, 1993, determined to find a way out of this unforeseen inner turmoil, trauma and shock.

You have a beautiful site, made me do a lot of thinking about my self, especially the part of your children not being yours.I lost a child 9 years ago and since then I have realized that god gave him to me for some reason and then needed him back. thank you, Kim L.

Just want to say the K. Gibran and Rumi quotes were "delightful" - and I'm certainly "open" to anything "senior citizens" might be able to DO to help breathe life back into a beleaguered "Planet." At my age I'm definitely "not" in need of more courses of services - I'd just like a place where I could meet kindred spirits that: "Want to give something back!"
